Vingroup JSC, the leading real estate and leisure business group in Vietnam are developing a parcel of over 3,000 hectares of land located at the northern end of Phu Quoc Island, off the south coast of Vietnam and Cambodia.
In November 2014 they completed the first phase of development at the site, known as the Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort. This comprises a 5* Resort Hotel with 750 rooms, 150 Ocean View Villas, a luxury ‘Vincharm’ Spa; the Vinpearl Amusement Park, Water Park and Underwater World Aquarium, and the 27-hole Vinpearl Golf Club Phu Quoc. Business and meeting facilities also combine to make this development attractive to the MICE sector.
Planning has since commenced for Phase 2, which will establish Vinpearl Phu Quoc as a major international resort. Phase 2 is provisionally scheduled to include seven main components:the largest golf course development in the world (a total of 14 new courses), a second 5-star resort hotel, beach front villas, a large entertainment complex, convention center, a zoo & safari park and a hot springs spa area.
Vingroup is now focusing on developing ideas for the entertainment complex which may include a ‘World Showcase of Culture and Cuisine’ and a number of other attractions. Petersham Group were commissioned to undertake a feasibility study for a waxworks attraction, of a size and standard similar to Madame Tussauds, as a possible anchor attraction within Phase 2, to complement other attractions appropriate to the location and market. Within our study, in addition to a comprehensive financial and market assessment we made detailed recommendations regarding the design, development and operation of the waxworks attraction.
